After a promising pre-season which included a narrow 3-2 defeat to Hearts B team, the club were relegated from the East of Scotland Premiership, winning only two games during the season.
Managerial chances throughout the season did not help. Micky Wilson started the season as manager but resigned after a few heavy defeats, including a 9-0 lose to Tynecastle in the South Challenge Cup, leaving the team in the hands of his coaches, firstly Joe Murray and then Ross McLaren. Both struggled to put consistent teams on the pitch due to the reluctance of players to join the club and the walk out of certain players following the League Cup exist at Hawick Royal Albert.
The club installed Ian Flynn and his assistant Jocky McCraw as the new management team at the back end of the season, after the club were unable to field a team against Inverkeithing Swifts.
With Ian in charge the season was completed with eight loanees from various clubs, plus various trialists, but on a positive gained their second victory of the season against Blackburn United.
Earlier in the season our venture in the Scottish Cup with a home draw for the first time in nine years resulted in a 2-0 defeat to Dunbar United.
The Vale also lost 2-0 to Bo’ness United in the EOS Qualifying Cup.
